Meet, Sherita!

We are so excited to share our StyleLend of the month: Sherita. She is talented, beautiful and has some awesome pieces to rent from.

kcaldwell427A9628

When did you start renting/lending from Style Lend and why?

I started renting with Style Lend last fall after I meet the CEO of the site/app at a Levo League event. I knew I had more evening wear than one girl needed and thought it would be a great way to make some extra money from gowns that I wasn’t wearing.

Shopping habits (do you shop online, flash sales, in person, etc.)

I am a huge online shopper! I find that when I am in stores, I get overwhelmed these days since I shop so much online. From flash sales, especially on Gilt to browsing the sales at NeimanMarcus.com, I am addicted.

kcaldwell427A9607

Favorite brands/designers and why?

Halston Heritage, DVF, Helmut Lang are definitely a few of my favorites. I like interesting cuts and draping and of course who can live without a DVF print!

What are your favorite things to do in NY?

I am big foodie, so dining out is on the top of my list. These days, when I am not auditioning or blogging, relaxing on my rooftop is the perfect end to my day.

kcaldwell_27A9678

Can you tell us a little blurb about your background, job, and how long you’ve lived here?

Originally from Detroit, I went to Loyola University in Chicago where I studied Finance and International Business.  On the contrast, most of my life has been spent in front of the camera. I have been modeling since I was 15 and am currently an actress, model & Host- In addition to running my blog, Busy Wife Busy Life. I have lived in NYC for over 10 years and it’s where I call home.

What is your fav piece of content you’ve created for your blog?

Even though I love giving fashion & style advice, like in my 7 Habits of Ultra Stylish Women, I would say some of my favorite content are my finance posts. Being able help people be more mindful of their money, is something that never goes out of style.

kcaldwell427A9591

What do you love most about being a model?

Being able to work with a variety of people and play different characters/roles is one of the best things about my job. I loath monotony, and being an actress/model gives me the chance to do something different everyday and that is what I love the most.

How would you describe your style?

My style is very contemporary, yet classic. I love interesting cuts and styles but at the same time a great blazer, paired with a white t-shirt and jeans has my name all over it. It really depends on my mood- I am not afraid of color or prints! My go-to’s consist of a lot of pants and dresses – maybe I will call it uptown, meets downtown chic.

kcaldwell427A9643

One thing that would be your “dream item” to rent on Style Lend?

Well, I definitely wouldn’t mind carrying a Chanel bag, but dishing out a few thousand on a handbag is not my thing (yet). I would love to rent one and just carry it for a few days straight. Lol.

Why do you like the concept of renting vs. buying?

I did a post about How Renting Your Wardrobe will really change the way you shop, this was even before I discovered Style lend. I think investing in quality pieces is the perfect way to build a lasting wardrobe, but sometimes you just want to have fun with your clothes. Renting gives you the opportunity to try new trends, experiment with colors you wouldn’t typically wear or just be someone completely different.

Helmut Lang

Known for minimalism, Helmut Lang was staple brand in the late to early 90s.  With the revival of 90s style has also come a renewed sense of appreciation for Lang’s designs.

It’s been over a decade since the designer left the brand but his influence is still felt today in the fashion world–did you know he was majorly responsible for the popularity of NYFW when he decided to show his collection before other European designers?

However, the brand carried on without the designer and has consistently brought out new and innovative yet minimal collections.  So we dedicate this week to Helmut Lang, and here are some of our fave pieces from the brand (all available to rent on our website):

Women We’re Crushing On

In honor of International Women’s Day, we’ve rounded up a list of all the women we just can’t get enough of.  Aside from all being incredibly beautiful, they also know how to dress.  These women are the epitome of all things fashion, and are sure to give you some serious style inspiration.

Rihanna

No post talking about fashion would be complete without at least mentioning Rihanna.  She’s the ultimate bad gal with her IDGAF attitude and her style perfectly embodies that.  RiRi’s go-to brands include Giorgio Armani, Tom Ford, Marchesa, Calvin Klein, and Stella McCartney.

Alexa Chung

She has a Mulberry bag NAMED after her.  Enough said; you cannot deny that she is a fashion powerhouse.  Her enviable closet includes the likes of Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Dior.

Kate Middleton

kate middleton 1

Doesn’t all of America have a crush on her? Doesn’t the whole world? She is just so perfectly classy yet effortless. And that hair!

When it comes to designers, Kate’s known to favor Alexander McQueen (P.S. We have a full blog post dedicated to McQueen, check it out here!).

Zoe Kravitz

The daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, this model/actress has a style that’s totally  grunge rocker chic, but still totally glamorous.  On the red carpet, she’s usually spotted in Christian Dior, Balenciaga, and Chanel.

Carrie Bradshaw Sarah Jessica Parker

carrie 1

Let’s face it, she’ll always be Carrie in our hearts.  Twelve years after the end of Sex and the City and SJP is still serving some serious fashion game, but we’ll never forget watching her strut around Paris in that stunning Versace gown.

Beyonce

You didn’t really think we forgot Queen Bey, did you?  She can do no wrong in music or in style (and that’s a fact).  Her outfits often range from vibrant and in your face, to simple and chic, and that’s not even mentioning what she wears on stage.  Givenchy, Alexander Wang, Versace, Diesel, and Elie Saab were just a few of the designers who contributed to her On the Run Tour wardrobe.

Happy International Women’s Day, and don’t forget to check out our app to rent items from all of these designers!

Meet our Lender: Anastasia Alt

Read on to learn how the evolution of Anastasia has also become the evolution of her style. and how style lend lets her explore without breaking the bank.

When did you start renting/lending from Style Lend and why?

I started lending this past summer soon after meeting the founder and CEO of Style Lend, Lona Duncan. I immediately loved the concept as a great way to monetize and store the items in my own closet. I am excited to rent some great dresses for myself as the holiday party season approaches.

StyleLend_1002__MG_0355

Shopping habits (do you shop online, flash sales, in person, etc.)

I shop through sites like Gilt for great deals on the designers I love most. I also buy a lot of costume jewelry, which I pick up on Bauble Bar, in my travels around the world, or at shops around New York. Some of the pieces I love the most and those for which I receive the most compliments I bought for just a few dollars on sidewalk tables while walking the side streets of New York. A statement necklace (or five!) is the perfect thing to bring so you can pack fewer clothes and pull off different looks each day on a trip.

StyleLend_1002__MG_0358

Favorite brands/designers and why?

I love Helmut Lang, Phillip Lim, and Rag & Bone for their simple, structured styles in mostly black, white, and neutral palettes. I like to mix up these looks and add color through bright jewelry and cool accessories I find all over. I wear a lot of ballet flats for walking around New York and Ferragamo makes my favorite, classic style with a flat bow across the front.

StyleLend_1002__MG_0406

For bags, I like the understated look of Bottega Veneta in a classic hobo shape; I use my bigger black one for day and my smaller one in bright red for evening. For evening wear, I just bought a floor length Zac Posen gown in a beige color (it’s on Style Lend!) that I am excited to wear with some great jewelry (I really love jewelry!) and a good tan for the right occasion.

StyleLend_1002__MG_0440

What are your favorite things to do in NY?

I am always looking for new and different things to do throughout the city and I am hardly ever out of options! There are a few activities I am especially looking forward to in the coming weeks. The New York Botanical Gardens has special evenings to showcase their holiday train show with cocktails and live music that I plan to attend. I go to FlyWheel for a great spinning workout and am looking forward to trying an adult gymnastics class at Chelsea Piers soon. I also can’t wait to finally go to Trapeze School in Queens! I recently converted to a vegetarian and mostly vegan diet, so Jivamuktea Café near Union Square is a favorite spot to grab a healthy snack or meal. While I constantly seek new activities, there are two spots where you can find me again and again: Baby Grand for late night karaoke and the Good Room for late night dancing!

Can you tell us a little blurb about your background, job, and how long you’ve lived here?

I am a lifelong New Yorker. I grew up in Manhattan, went to college at Columbia and moved to Williamsburg this year, which I absolutely love. I am an avid traveller, so despite strong local ties I like to explore new places and have spent significant time abroad over the years, especially throughout Europe and South East Asia.

StyleLend_1002__MG_0321

After working in finance and the corporate world for several years, I am also kicking off a new professional chapter this winter. I just left my job as a management consultant and am learning web development and programming full-time over the next few months. I have plans to start a business after I complete my coding course. I also have a “side hustle” throwing theme parties roughly every six weeks under the series name Patzo Party. Costume parties are another way I love to express myself with fashion.

StyleLend_1002__MG_0299

How would you describe your style?

Overall, my clothing is definitely quite structured, classic and tailored, but my outfits get an infusion of whimsy and fun through bright jewelry, creative nail art, and interesting accessories that I add in layers and change depending on my mood. My personal style has evolved over the years alongside my zip code in New York City.

StyleLend_1002__MG_0458

I grew up on the Upper East Side but these days I spend most of my time in Williamsburg and in downtown Manhattan. I was about as preppy as they come through college (polo shirts, headbands and pearls were all wardrobe staples) but I have moved towards an edgier and more eclectic sense of style in the past few years. Today, I see fashion as a great form of self-expression that can evolve as I do. I am inspired to try new looks just walking around my neighborhood in Williamsburg and love discovering local designers.

StyleLend_1002__MG_0518

One thing that would be your “dream item” to rent on Style Lend?

I’d love to rent the Chanel Velvet Boy Bag in Emerald Green for a great party or night out. The cross-body chain makes it easy to dance without having to put down your bag!

Why do you like the concept of renting vs. buying?

If there is one thing I know for sure, it is that my style will continue change as I do going forward. Style Lend makes it easy to express my evolving sense of fashion without committing to buying expensive pieces. I love it!

Featured Renter, Meet Tilden!

When did you start renting/lending from Style Lend and why?

I started renting/lending from Style Lend last summer (2014) and have been obsessed with it ever since. As a blogger, I absolutely love the concept of renting designer RTW pieces for those more laid back events and blog photos. It makes the idea of playing dress up more mature and realistic to participate in for someone blogging as a business.

Feature_Tilden_MG_0803

Shopping habits (do you shop online, flash sales, in person, etc.)

With my crazy schedule, shopping online is 10x easier but I do get hesitant from buying outside my brand comfort zone – the sites I know will fit. If they don’t offer free returns, I usually abandon my shopping cart. In person I feel more comfortable trying the pieces on, but styles are limited and practically everyone’s my size.. Basically shopping for me is either a hit or miss, depending on the day, time and place I decide to shop.

Feature_Tilden_MG_0761 (1)

Favorite brands/designers and why?

Retailers: Asos, Nasty Gal, Urban Outfitters, Zara, Top Shop, H&M, Club Monaco

Designers: Coach, Rebecca Minkoff, James Perse, Elizabeth & James, Vince

I love all these brands/designers because they best describe my style every season of the year, as well as stay reliable with sizing and pricing. I know what to expect when shopping from each of them and rarely disappointed in my picks (other than the occasional buyer’s remorse..)

Feature_Tilden_MG_0855

What are your favorite things to do in NYC?

Brunching, without a doubt. It’s borderline a religious activity on both Saturday and Sunday where you get to indulge without criticism and people watch all at the same time. I honestly feel I understand the city I call home much better on weekends and fall in love with it all over again.

Feature_Tilden_MG_0881

Can you tell us a little blurb about your background, job, and how long you’ve lived here?

I started my blog To Be Bright in January 2013 as a junior year in college with hopes to score a coveted fashion/retail public relations internship in NYC. As someone who was born and raised in NJ, the Big Apple is practically my second home and where I felt the most independent and secure while still having the comfort of home nearby. The goal was to get that internship that would lead to a job where I could secure that location of freedom & family – TBB would be the place where I show a little more about myself and my personality in a visual form, something a paper resume could never do.

Feature_Tilden_MG_0791

I rode horses my entire life, competing nationally up and down the east coast since age 10 at a serious & competitive level. The University of South Carolina recruited me my senior year of high school to compete on its Division I NCAA Equestrian Team, which I did for the first two years of my college career. Fashion was always an interest but something I could never “get into” because I didn’t have the time for it. However, I made sure to always dress for class and took a lot of pride in the pieces I owned and kept in my closet.

Feature_Tilden_MG_0808

When I resigned my position on the team to pursue other interests, I got involved blogging and soon becoming the online editor and PR director of our student magazine. It was then where I discovered my love for writing/sharing content as well as using social media to the best of my ability for a business, so to speak.

Feature_Tilden_MG_0790

So launching TBB was originally to share the work I did for the magazine, but it soon became the platform of my style and shopping habits. When I saw such a strong and positive feedback to my fashion-related posts, I decided to focus a bit more on that. It wasn’t until I was being asked to feature products and share my opinion on a broader spectrum that I realized I could make this a real business. Two and a half years later, To Be Bright is a fully-focused life & style blog that came to be in the most organic way possible – I couldn’t be happier with the direction my passion has taken me and I cant wait to see what the future holds for it.

Any little quirks?

Superstitious and I blame my dad for this one in the most appreciative way possible. He always made me think in an optimistic manner, work hard for the things I desire and stay hungry. That being said, he would consider certain moments and things to be considered “lucky” and to act upon them when appropriate to encourage a positive mindset. So if I catch the clock at 11:11 or see a penny heads up, a wish will be made and a coin will be picked up and pocketed. I also have a small habit of checking my zodiac app every morning, just to mentally prepare what may or may not happen to me that day…because you never really know.

Feature_Tilden_MG_0905

What do you love most about being an influencer?

What I love most about being an influencer is the ability to help someone out with a dilemma, in the form of clothing or by a change of perspective. When someone comes up to me and compliments my blog or tells me that it’s helped her in some way, it makes me so happy to know what I’m putting out there is bettering another person. At the end of the day, that’s what I want my blog’s presence to represent.

Feature_Tilden_MG_0842

Feature_Tilden_MG_0829

How would you describe your style?

Transitional – as I’ve grown and documented my fashion timeline for the past two years, my style has been a direct reflection of who & where I am during that time in my life. Since college and moving into NYC, my style has become more structured, minimalistic yet thought-provoking enough to take a second glance, and thrifty nonetheless. I score at sample sales, online sales and discounted stores & consignment shops to balance the budget I need to stick to and the appearance I want to maintain. In a year from now, my style might be completely different in the way I shop and share but for right now, it’s representing the very place I’m in with my real life.Feature_Tilden_MG_0860

One thing that would be your “dream item” to rent on Style Lend?

Probably anything Chanel (duh) but honestly, a nice Louis Vuitton tote would be fun to carry around for a hot second – it’s been a secret wish of mine to get but I’m being patient with my indulging, for now.

Feature_Tilden_MG_0865

Why do you like the concept of renting vs. buying?

Renting is great because it’s an “in the moment” action that can satisfy a luxury need – like an event or photo – while not having to commit to the price and redeem the “payoff.” For someone on a strict budget but looking to expand her designer reach, Style Lend is the perfect platform for me to push my blog in the direction it needs to go without having to pay for the consequences, no pun intended, of sacrificing bills over a moment of style.

Impossibly Imperfect – Meet Ashley!

Launching a new city can be hard, but thankfully we meet people like the wonderful Ashley from Impossibly Imperfect. She has become one of our best renters and now a lender and we are excited to share more about her style.

When did you start renting/lending from Style Lend and why?

I was introduced to StyleLend over the summer! My first renting experience was when I got an invite to attend the Diner en Blanc party in NYC, it’s an all white party and I had nothing to wear as I do not own all white pieces. I searched and searched for an option and two days before the event I remembered Style Lend, I went to the app found the most perfect Reiss white jumpsuit, rented it and had it delivered within a few hours. The jumpsuit was spectacular on and the app saved me in a moment of fashion panic.

DETIALS-683x1024

Shopping habits (do you shop online, flash sales, in person, etc.)

When it comes to my shopping habits I love to shop in person but most of the time I find it’s just easier to hit my go to e-comm sites like ASOS, Nasty Gal and Shopbop! Not to mention, they have a much wider selection!

Favorite brands/designers and why?

I have always been an avid supporter of smaller designers, hence the series that I do every so often called “Get in the Know” where I highlight a new designer. At the present, I am absolutely in love with Self Portrait! Everything he creates is simply lovely and the attention to the intricately beautiful detail truly makes his pieces special. Nonoo NY is a great up and coming designer who creates beautiful pieces with a bit of edge, I was obsessed with her rose gold mini dress this past spring! I’m also a huge fan of Jimmy Choo, Alexis, Zimmermann and For Love & Lemons! All gorgeous, very feminine brands!

Feature_Ashley_MG_1459

What are your favorite things to do in NYC?

I’ve lived in NYC for quite some time now and one of my favorite things to these days is to pop my headphones in and wander the city. You never know what you’ll get yourself into! I’m also a big vintage shopper so doing some damage at the flea markets on the weekend is always a good time.

Feature_Ashley_MG_1564

Though when the weather is gorgeous during the springtime it’s always nice to picnic in one of the parks, you have to take advantage of the nice weather while you can!

Feature_Ashley_MG_1543

Can you tell us a little blurb about your background, job, and how long you’ve lived here?

I was born and raised in a suburb outside of Dallas and went to college in Oklahoma so as soon as I graduated I flew myself out to NYC and found a job in PR at a huge agency.  I thought I’d be here for a few years and now eight years later I can’t imagine what life would be like anywhere else.

Feature_Ashley_MG_1372

Feature_Ashley_MG_1393

Any little quirks?

Haha there might be too many to share here! * Little secret, she is a sneaker lover 🙂

Feature_Ashley_MG_1520

What do you love most about being in PR?

I’ve always been a person who thrives in a fast paced environment. I like the constant change that comes with PR, it’s always something new and different no matter what brand I’m working on. One day I could be on set with Scott Foley for a bedding brand and the next watching Kevin Love and Eric Decker shoot hoops for one of my men’s brands.

Feature_Ashley_MG_1573

How would you describe your style?

Constantly evolving!

One thing that would be your “dream item” to rent on Style Lend?

Such a hard question! I’d love to rent a couture gown from a big design house such as Chanel or Oscar de la Renta! A girl can dream right??

Why do you like the concept of renting vs. buying?

I live in a miniature apartment in NYC and while I love my life in that apartment it is lacking in closet space! I also am a person who likes to wear things once or twice so renting has allowed me to incorporate new pieces into my wardrobe without making a huge commitment to them being there permanently.

Styling with Katelyn Johnson

Meet our fashion stylist, lender + renter of the month, Katelyn! Strutting through showrooms, photo shoots, and art school, this stylish girl is making her way up in the fashion industry. After hearing about Style Lend from one of her models during a photo shoot, Katelyn has been an active lender and renter on our app! Take a look at our fun day exploring Katelyn’s neighborhood and cute home!

Katelyn__MG_7749_v1

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I grew up in a modest town north of Sacramento, studying ballet from the age of 3 until 20. I picked up photography in high school and there found my second love. I would combine ballet, fashion, portraiture, and landscapes as the subjects of my photos. After graduating high school I took a little time off before university to work in an office. While there, I finally realized I wanted to pursue fashion. I moved the Bay Area 4.5 years ago, and have gotten to do just that! I still take a couple ballet classes here and there, and now let other people do the photography for me while we collaborate on the artistic direction. I am now assisting at Artists Services, and look forward to moving to NYC next summer!

Katelyn__MG_7618_v1

When did you start renting/lending from Style Lend and why?

I started renting from StyleLend about 2 months ago, as a way to rent special pieces for events, but also to rent wardrobe for photo shoots as I’m a commercial and editorial stylist for ads, music videos, and magazines. I lend because I’ve collected some exciting pieces that I don’t always get to wear, and want to share the excitement with others in my city.

Katelyn__MG_7818_v1

What do you love most about being a stylist?

What I love most about being a stylist is definitely the creative aspect. Most of what I do is getting to run around to scout gorgeous clothing, props, and locations. I get to put it together and create something from scratch with other talented people who each have their own impressive backgrounds. I’m fascinated with the many places from which style can draw inspiration, and how we use it to tell our stories. The designers have produced their visions, now stylists and photographers get to put that onto a person in a scene, extending that portrayal of a world – either actual or aspirational.

Katelyn__MG_7693_v1

What is your fav styling assignment you’ve had?

My favorite styling assignment I’ve had was actually one that started out not as wardrobe styling, but as prop styling! The photographer was a new contact at the time, and wanted to test out my skills before committing to a full fashion editorial. As we got to know each other and developed our ideas together, we became more trusting and pulled out a great concept from unknown parts of our creativity. It became a rather dark series actually, but I think it was a turning point for me that really helped me find my signature aesthetic.

The series touched on inspirations from dutch baroque still life, from ideas of memento mori, and the relationship between child and mourning mother. Although I am not religious and nor was the concept, it was from this that I drew the title, “Pietà,” after the pose of Virgin Mary holding a crucified Jesus. It included such pieces as a cow fetus, a taxidermied snake, ostrich eggs, classical sculpture, and a vintage monkey fur jacket. We shot it on a large format camera with 4×5 film slides. The tones and textures developed so rich and smooth, just dreamy. You can see it at katelyndjohnson.com/pieta

Katelyn__MG_7751_v1 (1)

Fav designers/brands?

If we’re being so ambitious here, as we should be when it comes to something as fun as fashion, I really love designers like Proenza Schouler, Haider Ackermann, Mary Katrantzou, Prada, Peter Pilotto, Dior, Lanvin, and Balmain. I love the detailing and unique materials of Proenza, with it having a deconstructed but refined aesthetic to it. Haider Ackermann is one of the best in color and draping in the industry, and the complex patterns of Katrantzou or Peter Pilotto always get me. I hope to one day get to own such pieces, but for now I stick to something slightly budget-friendly, like Opening Ceremony, MSGM, Self-Portrait, Three Floor, Miista, 3.1 Phillip Lim, No. 21, Sandro, Derek Lam, and C/MEO. I love and encourage color, pattern, and embellishment, so very rarely will you catch me in head to toe black, or without a piece of Alexis Bittar jewelry.

Katelyn__MG_7665_v1

How would you describe your style?

I feel like I’m a mix, maybe on opposite ends. I can go super minimalist with clean, tailored lines, or maximalist with too many colors and details. I love asymmetry in either case – a sleeve missing here, a cut-out there, a pattern on this shoulder, or a panel of fringe or ostrich feathers splashed across a shoulder. More often than not, my background in classical ballet heavily influences my style, as it did in my editorial. Its romanticism and femininity usually manage to sneak in somewhere. The movement of the clothing is really important to me.

Katelyn__MG_7758_v1

What would be your dream item to rent from Style Lend?

One of my dream items to rent would likely be something mentioned among my favorite designers. However, there is a beautiful Cynthia Rowley tasseled cocktail dress for rent on the SF StyleLend (from lender Paula Lam). It’s a gorgeous mix of black, royal blue, eggplant, and gunmetal. Asymmetrical, of course, sleeveless mini with a crew neck. I need to create an opportunity to wear this!

Katelyn__MG_7741_v1 (1)

Why do you like the idea of renting/lending VS buying?

Renting vs buying is a great way to save money on buying a piece for a special occasion while also letting you connect with others in your area! For lenders it’s really a nice way to get a little return on some pieces you’ve invested in, and I like to use it for my shoots because SF is sadly short on showrooms (a typical resource in the fashion photography industry). It’s so nice to be able to have more access to beautiful clothes you might have seen walking the runway or may not typically be in your budget, making something you’ve dreamt of wearing a reality!

We want to give a huge thanks to Katelyn for inviting us over and letting us into her stylish lifestyle! Every item worn by Katelyn can be rented on our app!

Fly off to Latin America

Our summer getaways are nearing the end – this week we’re visiting three beautiful locations in Latin America! Add some color, culture, and amazing food to your agenda this summer by visiting our fav summer locations: Costa Rica, Medellin, and Mexico City.

Costa Rica

We’re flying off to Costa Rica first! If you’re a beach lover, head over to the tropical beaches along Nicoya Peninsula’s palm-fringed coastline for some sun and surf.

Pura Vida

We packed this bright floral ASOS romper for our summer trip to Costa Rica! It’s the perfect easy to throw on outfit for a day on the beach. Pack your fav sunnies and stay hydrated!

Medellin

We are off to Medellin – the fashion capital of Columbia! While you’re in Medellin, catch a few fashion shows during July 28th-30th at their annual event, Columbia Moda. Rent a trendy Stella & Dot statement necklace from our app and grab a bright color lipstick for these upcoming fashion events!

For Medellin’s fashion show, we rented this beautiful Ted Baker body-con dress from a lovely lender on our app. Show off your shape in a fitted floral dress this summer! Since fashion shows require a lot of sitting, choose a dress with a classy knee length.

mexico city

Grab your passport for our last location in Latin America – Mexico City! Between visiting historic sites, never-ending dance parties, and trying delicious meals, pack an outfit that will work for all occasions!

Much like the vibrantly colored fashion designs and artwork in Mexico City, we love the color and pattern of this Rachel Zoe number! Pair this maxi skirt with a white crop top and fedora for your day in Mexico city.

Meet Jessica Kate–Style Lend’s OG!

Jessica_2015.06.13-0207_v4

beautiful, classy, and intelligent

Say hello to our Renter of the Month, San Francisco’s Jessica Kate! OG is an accurate nickname as Jessica started renting from Style Lend from the very start. Literally, out of our CEO Lona’s closet. 😉

We love her because her intelligence and beauty are equally on par. For the last 8 years, this stylish girl has worked as a psychotherapist.

Jessica recently showed us her gorgeous apartment in the center of Pacific Heights. With stunning views of the golden gate, and an adorable balcony where she has her morning coffee, we couldn’t stop taking photos. Her decor is a mix of Vogue/Restoration Hardware.

Take a peek into her home and see which Style Lend pieces are her favorites to rent.

WHERE DID YOU GET INSPIRATION FOR DECORATING YOUR HOUSE?

I like simplicity with a few pieces that stand out. I prefer neutral colors and hues. I wanted to contrast the old world San Franciscan architecture of my apartment with modern, contemporary furniture/pieces and use artwork to bring in sparks of color.

Shoes. Jessica’s main fashion addiction. Alexander McQueen being one her favorites.

“let fashion be an extension of yourself” – jessica

when did you start renting from style lend and why?

I began renting from Style Lend during it’s early days – basically as soon as I found out about it – I loved the idea that it was local, easily accessible and the renting options were very compelling….after my first rental, I was hooked and have been since.

shopping habits?

I don’t always plan shopping – it often “just happens” however my go to’s are Net-o-Porter, Revolve, ShopBop.

favorite brand/designers?

I love Vince for day to day wear – simple/clean looks.

Frame denim is my new favorite for jeans – the fit is amazing, I especially love their distressed denim.

I love Valentino shoes, more of an edge – I just recently purchased the Valentino Rockstud pumps (for rent on our app), in love with them. I’m also a big fan of Chloe and Stella McCartney.

what are events you like to go to?

I travel quite a bit, lots of weekend getaways – Laguna beach, NY, Napa. I attend a variety of events- park days at Mission Dolores to music festivals to galas. In the last 1.5 yrs, I’ve rented dresses/pieces for Art Basel in Miami, Hawaiian vacations, weddings in Steamboat Springs Colorado and Sayulita, Mexico, NY Fashion Week and NYE in SF.

WHY DO YOU LIKE LIVING IN SF?

I love how SF/Bay Area has a bit of everything within reach – mountains, ocean, snow, beaches. I love how each district offers something unique and entirely different than its neighboring area. Great food, dynamic people, fashion and culture.

What would be your “dream item” to rent on style lend?

My dream items are often the designer dresses that I wouldn’t necessarily buy but would love to wear, and certainly rent to wear! I also love the idea of renting jewelry for the same reason.

Jessica_2015.06.13-0075_v1

why do you like the concept of renting vs. buying?

I like the concept of renting vs buying, particularly for dresses, because often you want to wear something new or that you haven’t worn yet and renting allows you to do so in a way that’s easy, accessible and affordable!
